The Biology Club is working with the Rutgers–Camden Ignite Program, an after-school program that works with five different North Camden schools to teach students about the arts and STEM. The Biology Club visits with the students at the Camden Community Charter School, working with grades fourth through sixth grade. This past Friday members did a DNA extraction of strawberries with the kids, explaining how DNA is the building blocks of all living things. The simple experiment showed how something as small as DNA can be made visible, empowering the students to see how they too can discover through science.
Both the Biology Club members and the students had a ton of fun and the club looks forward to visiting the students every Friday! If interested in joining email rucbioclub@gmail.com.
